Who’s the Bigger Geek?
This week you will decide who is the bigger dork myself or Josh Howerton. If you were at the Bridge this week, you heard a powerful message on the resurrection not only of Christ but the resurrection of all who are saved in Christ. Near the end of the sermon Josh began to express his love for hobbits named Frodo and wizards with names like Gandalf.(Great illustration to drive home the point of the sermon, by the way) It’s almost like Josh wants to be a Hobbit. He watches the movies, has read the books like six times, the only thing he needs is pointed ears, funny shoes and green tights. What more has to be said.
Now for me. If you have been around me for any length of time at all you know that I am a small, very small, fan of Will Smith. I’ve seen all his movies, can quote Fresh Prince of Bel-Air (every episode) have most of his music, and will pre-order (weeks in advance) tickets to his up and coming movies. Maybe I’m a little more than a small fan, but lets face it, Will Smith is one of, if not the greatest actor in Hollywood.
Now it is up to you to decide. Who is the bigger geek?
~Alan

This is easy. Is it worse to have a man-crush that calls into question your sexuality or to be enamored by someone who saved Middle Earth and vanquished the epitome of evil through courage and perseverance?

It all comes down to wording. “Geek” is no what I would call Alan with Will Smith…. It’s just odd and disturbing!!!! LOL (although I am quite sure of his sexuality)

Josh is wrong! Will Smith saved the world in Independece Day, got rid of aliens in MIB, turned the boxing world on its ear in Ali, took care of the drug lords in Bad Boys, was the love doctor in Hitch, possibly the greatest super hero of all time in Hanncock, he was the last man standing in I am Legend, amazing caddy in Legend of Bagger Vance, and gave his life so others could live in Seven Pounds. Need I say more!!!!

Yeah, this is easy. The Lord of the Rings Trilogy has been around for over 50 years and is an enduring classic.
In 50 years, who will remember Will Smith?
Answer: Alan Hood

See, I think that if you can balance semi-geeky things like a love of hobits, or a stalker-esque obsession with Will Smith, with other non-geeky things about yourself, then it almost cancels it out. So I think it should almost be a decision on who has the most non-geeky things going their way. For example, over January I had the opportunity to play basketball with both Josh and Alan, and after several games it became apparent that while Alan has some moves and is able to beat the crap out of an over-sized semi-retarded kid(myself) Josh has considerably more skill. I think that in and of itself qualifies Josh as the least geeky.

@alan Your love for Will Smith is clouding your thoughts to the point of delusion… obviously.

For the record, Alan (aka “Will Myth”) and I squared off in a game of bowling last night. Alan can share the results with everyone if he so chooses…
